I guess I look at differently.  I was planning to buy at least a few sets of different tires(brands, compounds, types, etc....) to see what would work best.  Even if I did use my current tires, I would have to go through the current tires I have and see what works.  Those get worn everytime I try them.  With a spec tire, I only have to buy one and so does everyone else.

As far as another method to drive up sales, maybe.  Again I look at things differently.  I see it as a way to even the playing field.  I haven't been to an off road roar event yet.  But in on road, not only do they spec the tire, they also limit the amount of sets you can buy.  That keeps guys from turning their tires into one run tires.  Again, evens the playing field.

Either way, I hope you guys make it.  I know these events are not cheap.  I've been to a few "big events" and I really enjoy them.  It is just a different atmosphere.

If this makes it cheaper for anyone, I plan to drive back and forth every day.  If you want to meet at my house in Tracy, I'll take ya from there.  No need to split gas or anything.

I just paid for my race fee's on the roar site and they charged me a $20 late fee!  If you are going and haven't paid, be prepared for the fee.  I had to shell out $275!!! for 3 classes Angry

Hey guys checkin in here and can offer some info if it helps.

The Spec tires are to even the playing field for all out of towners and to make it simple for you to travel without a case of tires. ALso we are going to have them at great prices. This is what all 1/10th ROAR NATS do to make sure everyone is on the same playing field. PLus the tires are pretested on the track as the better choice.

As for ROAR fees im looking into the late fee issue. Also They come and host the event at our track with officials, Computers and Equipment. Also its a four day race so it works out to 20 a day for the event about. I do think ROAR is a little overpriced but they set the rates.

If you are hit with any late fees let me know and ill give you guys three free practice days if that makes it any better.

Also rememeber we have the Offroad Kings in two weeks which we are in charge of. Way cheeper entry fees and no spec tire. Any questions call me 510-282-2450

Just a little taste of what the Offroad Kings and Nationals will be like. Though the track will be different for Nationals it will be awesome and ideal for all classes. We had the best racing and fun yesterday on this track. Heres a Morning clip of Jesse Stark running the layout in practice.

Here's a good pic of the layout for offroad kings. Gives you a good idea of how big the track is.

Everyone that was charged a late fee has been refunded. I contacted the administrator today and he's already got them processed. I'm sure the refunds were made based on how the entries were paid, but I don't know for sure how each was handled.

As a result of this discussion, I think we're going to be eliminating late fees completely for anyone who registers online. ;o)

Yes, the Rebar SC tires will include the red insert.  The buggy tires do not.   The J Concept truck barcodes do include white foam inserts.
