If you've seen my other posts I've been all over the place on what class to try but I finally broke down and got a 4x4 sct and I'm wondering what all the rules/ regulations are for the open 4x4 sct class, thanks

As long as your running a 2s battery and the wheels/tires are sct, not 1/8th and fit under the body when the suspension is compressed, you are fine.  Not many restrictions in OPEN.

Hi John, and the rest of everyone here, my name is Ken and I have been trolling these forums the past few weeks. I am getting back into RC after being out for quite along time. Been doing as much research as I can to catch up to speed and still have a long way to go. Got a question for ya in regards to your statement."  Only other concern that has been brought up in the past is running a production 4wd SCT. Some people frown on guys running 1/8th buggies converted to 4wd SCT's....WOuld you define what you mean by production 4wd SCT?

I have recently bought 2 of these RTR  4WD LOSI SCTE for myself and my youngest son (age 11) and are looking forward to meeting/learning from you guys.

thanks
Ken

Nobody ever answered this and I'm curious, too... I know somebody that converted a 1/8 buggy to a 4wd SCT... Is that legal?

Nice to know... Steve Rakow (a friend of mine) ran a converted SCT for a long time and it made my Losi SCTE seems light, so I was just wondering!

Going to be watching this class closely for rough driving.  It has gotten out of hand and needs to stop.  Will go over some thing's in the driver's meeting because I have the feeling some drivers don't realize what the problem is.

When marshaling for 4X4 heats and mains I've seen same driver repeatedly spin guys out. Think it was hard to catch or see as he did stop and let other driver pass. But almost every lap someone got spun by him being overly aggressive and screwed his times up as well as others. This person I'm referring to is not only one as Eric Todd and I noticed in one video I got turned 3 times in one main when I was in second and another when in third in a main. I would pass him and get hit at next corner then pass again trying to get far enough ahead before next corner. If I didn't trigger happy Joe took me out. I just try to watch and figure out how to stay away from them just not that easy. All drivers just need to to speak up and let race director talk to individuals. Funny thing is some of them are lapped and still try to race to a corner and end up taking out someone who has already lapped them. Wow! Is all I can say. We all need to really drive clean yes some rubbing when side by side but if you know you are beat to corner by  someone who has inside line back off a little and try a clean pass somewhere else. It's too hard for race director to watch everyone during a race. So if marshals see rough driving from individuals more than once they Need to help and speak up. Listen for who it is when they cross finish line and maybe this will help tame overly aggressive drivers. If you can't beat em bash em doesn't work just makes everyone frustrated. I've pushed once coming from inside into quad with Jerms right next to me on outside and should have backed off just a little as I ended up crossing to outside of jump taking Jerms and myself out. Now I watch that section and wanted to stay clean and smooth whole race. We all are going to bobble at some point so just be patient and keep pressure on guy inn front. Its always harder too stay up front with fierce pressure so sometimes its good to let them by if you know you can beat them and plenty of time left. You pressure them right back they just might make a big enough mistake to gain good space between you both. Now you can glide into winner circle.

Totally agree,

i see the rougher driving happening in all the SCT classes, 4x4, 2wd mod and stock.
i have had some really clean, enjoyable , and non breaking runs with 2wd buggy latly.
just because it has fenders and bumbers, does not mean you can use them to help you beat other people up on the track.
this is the reason i will NOT being driving 4x4 for a while.
That being said, Modesto is not the only place this happens.
i have seen plenty of this door panel smashing at EVERY track i have been too.
It is quite discouraging when your more worried about getting taken out by lap traffic, than you are worried about the guy your raceing 3 sec behind you.

You are absolutely right Brannon and just because 4X4 allow you to hang it out there guys think it's okay to push you out of the way. It's funny when you keep passing them after they drive into you and they get mad. That is what makes the class less enjoyable for me because then you end up with bumper cars instead of racing. If I want to wreck race I'll play that game on my phone. I just got my 2 wd sc so I can have cleaner racing and so far I have. I'm only racing 2wd mod and nitro ( if enough show up).  I remember racing monster truck class and it was same as 4X here and there but if you got out front early it wasn't so bad. Well I have fun with 4wd sc just gets frustrating to fight to stay in a top half of class when slower and lapped traffic keep taking you out. Some should not be in the class period.

What I don't understand is why we are asked to "move over" for the leader when they are coming up on us.

I look at this two ways...

1) If they are good enough to be the leader, they should be good enough to pass me.

2) I paid the same entry fee they did and even though I'm not racing for the lead, I am racing somebody else
(the truck in front of me) and trying my best to lower my lap times just like them.

I understand the whole rubbing is racing concept, and don't get me wrong it is fun to an extent... I really feel the cause to the agressive driving is one the power behind these beast. Yeah it is nice to have the power but at the same time you can't be strapped every second on the track. You got to learn how to moderate how much you are using when. Watch the 4x4 SCT A-Mains from the Super Nats this past weekend. Never are they strapped unless they are on the back straight. And also every major form of motorsports are you suppose let the faster car by if you are getting lapped. It is just the respectful thing to do. Just stating my opinion..

it's a common courtesy, and the day your battling out with another person in first/second place you'll be happy its there. it takes very little time to go a little wide to let the guy through... instead of making him fight to get through you and possibly take you/him out.

On another note I cannot count how many times I've been taken out at the first corner of a race because someone's behind me and cannot back out of the throttle.... watch the traffic in front of you not just your truck.

You know the guy that beat you at the last race? It was not because of his car, or motor, or battery, it is because he was a better driver.
