hey Ill be racing for the first time on Saturday and i noticed that there aren't many people racing novice would i be better off racing in the 2wd 17.5 nr sct class since thats what i have?

It only takes 3 to make a class at MRCR. We have good members that don't mind volunteering to marshal if we need the help. But the Novice class has had some good turnouts the last few weeks, so I think you should be alright.
